Our approach

Turning words into actions

Our planet faces massive economic, social and environmental challenges, and as a global company, we believe we have a role in contributing to their resolution.

At the end of 2015, the United Nations released a set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defining global priorities and aspirations for 2030. The SDGs explicitly call on business to use creativity and innovation to address development challenges, from climate change and natural disasters, to global economic inequality and ethical business conduct.

Strengthening governance

Ethics, Compliance

Adopting a comprehensive approach to ethics, compliance and transparency is an important part of Airbus Helicopters’ commitment to being a responsible global citizen.

Since its early days, the company has adopted demanding policies and rules governing all of its international trade activities, continuously improved and reinforced in keeping with the highest industry standards of ethics and compliance.

In 2008, the company reviewed and subsequently updated its approach to ethics and compliance through the establishment of a compliance organization.

Fostering innovation

Airbus Helicopters pursues new technologies and solutions to support the evolving needs of its operators and to reduce the environmental impact of its products and processes.

Projects underway have shown promising results, from setting new records for helicopter speed and range, to exploring technologies that cut CO2 emissions, to reducing helicopter sound levels.

Airbus Helicopters is committed to addressing the environmental impact of its products and processes, whether its improving the environmental performance of the materials used in the design and manufacturing of helicopters, or addressing the major environmental aspects of a product’s life cycle early on in the design process.

Promoting diversity

Airbus Helicopters' diversity and inclusion networks manage topics such as work life balance, career development, integration of disabled employees, and furthering gender balance.

The company works proactively alongside a number of organizations to support initiatives and best practices that foster an inclusive working environment.

Investing in youth

Airbus Helicopters is committed to widening the horizons of the next generation and preparing students for rewarding employment opportunities. Through the Airbus Foundation, Airbus Helicopters supports three programs for fostering learning among disadvantaged youth and those facing educational challenges.

1. Airbus Helicopters’ outreach program, Diversity Impulse (D-Impulse), brings employees into middle- and high-school classrooms, to share their passion with groups of around 25 students. The program involves employees from a variety of sectors and disciplines.

2. Airbus Helicopters’ partnership with the Institut Louis Germain offers motivated middle- and high-school students (aged 10-16) the opportunity to learn about careers in aeronautics through the Summer Campus program, held three times a year during school holidays. During these sessions, three to five Airbus volunteers discuss the various opportunities available in the helicopter industry. Around 120 students benefit each year.‎

3. In partnership with Energie Jeunes, Airbus Helicopters is active in the fight against school dropouts, targeting around 1,000 students in an ongoing three-year program that utilizes the time and talent of around 10 volunteers.

Partnering with SMEs

Airbus Helicopters supports the economic growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through its Open Innovation program by offering partnerships to companies with innovative ideas, and developing them over time for future industrial application,

Though the program is aimed primarily at SMEs, it is open to all legal entities possessing a suitable industrial or scientific framework.

Providing humanitarian aid

Humanitarian, emergencies

The helicopter plays a critical role in humanitarian relief work, performing a number of important missions in times of need.

The Airbus Helicopters Foundation responds to humanitarian crises and emergency situations by supporting general-interest initiatives in which the helicopter provides real added value to rescue operations. These include:

1. Immediate response to natural disasters by making helicopters available to humanitarian organizations operating on the ground in the hours immediately after disaster strikes (and with contribution from Customer Centers and Airbus Helicopters customers).

2. Training emergency response teams performing helicopter missions, and supporting projects that help make their airlift rescue missions safer and more effective.
