Japan’s Kumamoto Prefecture places order for AS365 N3+
Tokyo, 22 December 2016 – Airbus Helicopters Japan has signed a contract for one AS365 N3+ with the Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan. The twin-engine Dauphin family aircraft will replace the current AS365 N3, providing enhanced capabilities to the Kumamoto Prefecture. The delivery is scheduled in spring 2018.

“We are very pleased that the Kumamoto Prefecture has selected the AS365 N3+, which is known for not only its higher performance and utilisation, but also its lower lifecycle cost”, said Olivier Tillier, Managing Director of Airbus Helicopters Japan. “The highly efficient AS365 N3+ will play a key role in the firefighting, disaster relief and medical rescue missions for the Kumamoto Prefecture. We have continuous trust of the Kumamoto Air Rescue Team thanks to high aircraft availability and our local support.”

The Kumamoto Prefecture has been operating Airbus Helicopters aircraft since 2001. Collectively, there are 55 Dauphin helicopters currently operated in Japan, supporting law enforcement, firefighting, disaster relief and news gathering missions.

The medium-sized twin-engine Dauphin incorporates advanced technologies for high flight speeds, low noise and vibration. Equipped with Airbus Helicopters’ signature Fenestron shrouded tail rotor, the rotorcraft’s spacious cabin accommodates up to 12 passengers and two pilots. The AS365 N3+ comes with an auto hover function, and is equipped with a sand filter and the Heli-Sat System capable of the high-speed real-time transmission from a helicopter through a satellite. The Dauphin helicopter is highly efficient for missions including firefighting, search and rescue, and emergency medical services.
